Eat plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables for beta carotine and vitamin C as well as wholegrain cereals. Cut down on alcohol, fats, particularly saturated fats, smoked or salt-preserved foods, meats - especially processed, charred or barbequed foods. Finally avoid smoking and sunbathing without protection.

Garlic and onions for which medicinal properties have long been claimed may proved be powerful allies in the fight against cancer. Scientific studies in China suggest that they may neutralise cancer causing chemicals and reduced the risk of tumors. A study of 16000 Chinese found that people with the highest intake of garlic or onions were those least likely to suffer from cancer of the stomach.
