Matt Cutts - Anti Black Hat SEO
This man has a big job in Google. His expertise is finding the link spam in google search engine. Those who practice Black Hat SEO loathe him. He is an ingenious and because of that he is paid well by Google. They even let him have his own personal blog to discuss everything happen in Google - off course, only things that we should know.In August 2006, Cutts allegedly admitted to using the identity Google Guy in posts to web related boards, though Cutts later said he was quoted out of context. In early 2007, Cutts announced that Google had developed an algorithm to reduce the number of Google bombs appearing in the search results.
Well, this man is just doing his job so whoever cheats the search engine will be caught by him and your website will get affected very badly or may even being banned from Google.

Traffic Exchanges Don't Work?
There was a fuss about a month after joining a traffic exchange, a very big percentage of users come out with the phrase "Traffic Exchanges Don't Work".
According to people like Steve Ayling, it is not the exchanges fault and it’s not even the fault of the member. Most people are turned on to traffic exchanges by an up line member or the administration of some site or program that is going around the internet. When they are introduced to them though, people are told all you have to do is put your affiliate link in and start clicking and you will be rich in a matter of days.
This is a big mistake, actually it is more than that, it is a tragedy. It’s a tragedy, because that person is not going to get the results from traffic exchanges that were promised and will soon move on from them.
They will say traffic exchanges don’t work, that they make huge promises that they can’t keep, when in reality it was an outside program that made those promises. There is hope though, if you avoid making the above mistake you could join the thousands that answer Yes when ever they are asked if TE’s work.
There is a growing group of people that use traffic exchanges exclusively to build their business including William Brant. He also tired of others saying that the exchanges don’t work. He has broken down the most common mistakes that people make, mistakes that are keeping them from being successful, and written a report on how to identify and avoid them. Well, it's because he is selling the e-book for that part.
What are those mistakes, then? If the program has laid out all the techniques but still it does not work, well off course, it's not our mistake. Or maybe we are not so clever, we wrongly followed the steps required.
For me, the exchange will work but it will take longer time, unless you are a computer gick using all Black Hat SEO Techniques, then it will work successfully for your site.

Google Algorithm Is Confusing
Here are some real stories about Google Algorithm.
One guy did some SEO work for an architectural firm in Brisbane, Australia. What he did was added new metatags, created link exchanges with related sites, did resubmission and created one-way links from unrelated sites which have PR3 and PR5 that he managed. Later when he checked, he found there was only 1 or 2 back links to that site, but the site PR went from 0 to 5 and he didn't know how it happened. His client was so delighted with the result. He was really confused about it, because he had no idea how it happened and why it worked so well, and he really want to find out so he can do it again. The site that he was talking about is at www.emailavanet.com.au
Any theories? Is Google playing with our mind?
This story is also familiar with the above. This guy claimed that a few of his client's websites went from PR0 to a PR5 in about 3 months each. He didn't do anything out of the normal, and couldn't seem to replicate it to save his. The sites he had been able to get PR5 for have nothing to do with the Internet. One was for architectural louvers, the other was for Feng Shui. He said "it sucks to see a client's website receive a PR5 after 3 months and receive only a PR4 on my own personal website and blog after 2 and more years". He also said he just got a PR5 for a one page Linux site that he built 7 years ago but he could not even get PR4 for his business site.
Is Google raising the bar for people in the Internet industries? Or is it something to do with competition? The higher the competition, the harder it is to get good PR?
Some said it had something to do with domain age, one was an old domain (5 years plus), the other was only a few months old and some sites get high PR even if it doesn't have many back links.
So maybe it is true that Google is messing with our minds.

How To Get Search Engine Traffic Without SEO
Here's one traffic tip that I learned recently. And this is the next best thing to being listed on the front page for the keyword that you want. And it's cheaper than PPC too.
Here's how you do it ...
First you Google the keyword that you want. If you are selling an ebook on losing weight, you can type in the word "lose weight" in Google right now. You know how expensive that keyword is with Adwords, right?
I am not really sure but I know that it's expensive.
So the next best thing that you can do is to advertise at the websites in the search engine results for that specific keyword. You may want to negotiate a small investment first, and see how the traffic is converting.
And if the website has Adsense, you can try to look for that phrase "Advertise on this site". And here's a trick if you are going with the "Advertise on this site"
What you can do is have an ad that also calls out the name of that website. I found this website here when I typed in lose weight:
http://www.soyouwanna.com/site/syws/loseweight/loseweight.html
So your ad can be something like:
I Love SoYouWanna.com
Lose weight at my site.com
If there's no "Advertise on this site", you can look for a link that says "Advertise" or "Advertisement", or anything like that.
And you can't find that either, and you are a portal or content site, you can even find their contact details and ask them about advertising rates.
Here's another tip ... rather than asking them their rates, you can straight away suggest a rate that you are comfortable with ... say maybe $1.50 per CPM (thousand impressions). You can say that you want to try out the first 10,000 impression before committing to a huge investment.
By the end of day, check how much traffic you are really getting, and how many sales you get. And then compare that if you were to bid for that keyword in Adwords or Overture in the first place ...

Introduction to Keyword Research
Keyword Research describes the practice of looking at what users are searching for and how they search for it on the Internet. More specifically, Keyword Research helps us understand the types of things people are trying to find, as well as the words they’re using. Using Keyword Research you can discover if “techniques turntables” are more popular than “nu mark turntables“ or if people prefer to use the word “turntable“ or “decks“ or “wheels of steel” when they’re searching for these record players. In another word Keyword Research help you to increase your link popularity. The really cool thing about Keyword Research is that we can go beyond the basics with this information and use measures that help us find out if we should be trying to sell turntables at all. We can see how much competition we may be up against and decide if in fact we should be targeting smaller market such as turntable “slip mats” instead. So we may find ourselves a popular little niche market that has little competition – a little niche in which it will be easier for our website to be seen among the “noise” of all the other websites.
Using Keyword Research, you can actually see all the different ways that people find products like “slip mats“. While many searchers use just the basic search term, others seek more specific items such as “butter rug slip mats“. Using Keyword Research, we can tap into these kinds of hot topics. I mean unless you were in the scene, how on earth would you find out that people actually use the term “butter” and “rug“ together to describe anything at all!

5 Things To Avoid In Search Engine Optimization
When most new webmasters start building their web pages, they don’t give much of a thought to Search Engine Optimization. What does this mean? It means they could be building pages which are unfriendly to search engines. The search engines are one of the best ways to get free traffic, and to save time and hassle, there are certain things to avoid so that your site is ranked well without spending months on end trying to optimize your page.
Here are five things you must avoid to prevent getting in trouble with the search engines:
1. Never Keyword Spam
Don’t spam or hide your pages with the keyword you are attempting to target. Search engines are smarter nowadays and can smell your intentions from afar. If they think you are spamming, your site could be penalized badly in the rankings or even removed from their listings.
2. Don’t Use Frames
Websites which have frames are also unfriendly to search engines and will prevent from getting a good ranking. Try to avoid using frames whenever possible. A good tip is to add "no frames" tags between the “Head” tags.
3. Don’t Use Flash Or Javascript
If possible, refrain from using Flash or Javascript elements. These dynamic scripts don’t contain much content in terms of words and the search engines generally do not like them. If in doubt, always put content ahead of fancy graphics or effects. Besides, your visitors will love you for it.
4. Don’t Submit Your Site Too Often
A few people I know, who after finding that their site was not indexed after one week, re-submitted their site to the search engines. This is not recommended! If you do this too often, the search engines will think you are spamming.
5. Never Use Unrelated Keywords In Your Meta Tags
If you are selling sofa sets, don’t place the name of a popular person or product in your “Keywords” meta tag. Some webmasters use popular keywords in their meta tags in an attempt to attract more traffic, but this does not work, as the search engines only look at their relevance to your web page. If you sell sofas, place only words related to sofas in your meta tag.
Avoid these five pitfalls that a lot of new webmasters make, and you can prevent your site from suffering an early search engine death. After all, as the cliché goes, prevention is better than cure!

Traffic From Google Adwords - Is it worth it?
Some people would like to use Google Adwords to bring traffic and to boost their sales. But I still think getting traffic from the natural means is the best quality traffic you can get. The key here is the content network.
If you really go for Adwords, for example you want to sell computer parts, you want your ads to appear on Cnet - not home shopping network. Also, you have to keep in mind your profit margins on the product/service you're selling. You may be able to sell a ton of pc parts, but if you are only breaking even, it doesn't make sense to continue on that path. While you may only find a few margin items, those are the ones to focus on first, so that you are generating revenue while determining the best strategy to go after new phrases. Your sells and success also depends upon the relevancy of traffic you are getting and the source from which you are getting it.
Adwords is the main key source of click fraud for PPC. But if you're not averse to taking a risk, content traffic will be cheaper. It all depends on your topic and your site. I have some sites that thrive because of content clicks while other areas they are just a waste of money... so it really depends on what type of site that you have.
It also depends on just how targeted the traffic is. You can find many top ranking websites still making thousands of dollars from Adsense and other contextual advertising because on some very hot websites, real buyers are searching for the products. While in some cases, even having a number one ranking may not help.
For example, If you are just visiting the GameSpot website and a nice ad grabs your attention about the XBox, you might even click and go further to discover, and might finally buy it even if some other websites selling this item is at no.1 rank in Google, but have you visited them? No, so highly targeted advertising in some cases can bring many new orders and customers.
Besides the click fraud on PPCs, do you believe that many people click the ads just for fun! This is not very helpful for you to bring sales in fact it is just wasting time and money. I would rather buy links on high trafficked sites which will definitely drive in a lot of traffic to my sites.

SEO Issues
Search engine optimization (SEO) is considered by many to be a subset of search engine marketing, it is a term used to describe a process of improving the volume of traffic to a website from search engines, usually in "natural" ("organic" or "algorithmic") search results. Those efforts may also be seen in more narrow vertical search engines involving areas such as local search. Many site owners and consultants engaging in SEO attempt to pursue qualified visitors to a site, and the quality of visitor traffic can be measured by how often a visitor using a specific keyword phrase leads to a desired conversation action, such as making a purchase, viewing or downloading a certain page, requesting information, signing up for a newsletter, or taking some specific action.
Initially, all a webmaster needed to do was submit a page or URL to various engines which would send a spider to "crawl" that page, extract link to other pages from it, and return information found on the paged to be indexed. The process involves a search engine spider downloading page and storing it on the search engine's own server, where a second program known as and indexer, extracts various information about the page, such as the words it contains and where these are located, as well as any weight for specific words as well as any and all links the page contains, which then are placed to a scheduler for crawling at a later date.
There are many SEO techniques. In general techniques can be categorized as On-Page Optimization, On-Site Optimization, and Off-Site Optimization. The method employed by SEOs are divided into categories also referred as the two schools of CEO: white hat SEO and black hat SEO.
White hat SEOs are those that play by the rule. Black hat CEOs are those that push the limit of SEOs and employ some questionable or prohibited techniques. These black hat SEO techniques are also commonly known as spam.
White hatters charge that black hat methods are an attempt to manipulate search ranking unfairly. Black hatter counter that all SEO is an attempt to manipulate rankings, and that the particular methods one uses to rank well are irrelevant.
So many people equate SEO with used car salesmen or scam artists. Why does this reputation persist? There are a few "bad apples" in every field, it seems that this whole industry has been flagged as such.
I personally know some great people who are SEOs and do their best everyday to help people make money and do better in search results. All SEOs can't be evil, can they?

Why Search Engines Like Blogs
The rules that the Search Engines such as Google, Yahoo, and MSN have established are there for a reason. Relevant fresh content is what they want to deliver to their users. A Blog is freshly updated, relevant content. Most web pages are static and rarely change. This makes them possibly old, outdated or non-relevant.
Search engine spiders read and index and update content regularly. A Blog produces an organic output call a feed. This feed may be in several formats such as: RSS, XML, Atom, and OPML. Feeds are in a language called XML. Search engines know that if you are presenting information in XML format it is most likely because that content will be changing on a regular basis. A search engines motivation for spidering the XML feeds is to find new content. XML is very search engine spider friendly for a variety of reasons.
There are some basic rules that you need to follow in order to keep your Blog on track and have the content get indexed by the search engines. The search engines also have an algorithm that looks at how frequently a XML feed is updated. They know when the feed was last updated. Based upon how frequently the feed is updated determines how often the search engines come back and index the feed and its content.
For example if the feed is updated 3 times a week it begins to form a sort of history with the search engines. They know the feed is updated on a regular basis and will come back to look for changes on their own. Conversely, if the feed is not updated but 1 time a month, the search engines will come back on a much less frequent basis. The lesson here is that the more frequently you post, the more likely the search engines will come back and index your Blog.
The following items are important to achieving improved online visibility with your Blog and to increase traffic.
- Blog Posting Velocity
- RSS Feed Validity
- Keyword Tagging
- Properly titled posts that are keyword specific
- Proper submission to the RSS & Feed Directories
- Proper pinging to notify directories of new Blog content updates
- Feed provided in multiple formats such as RSS, XML, Atom, OPML
Achieving increased online visibility for your content and business is a major reason to create and maintain a Blog for your business. Creating visibility for your Blog with the search engines is very important. Additionally you can increase the visibility by having your Blog visible in RSS, Blog Directories, Tagging Sites, and Ping Servers as well. Most people don’t realize that the major search engines also regularly index and follow links to Blogs that are listed in these directory & services.
It would be to your benefit to ensure that you create the largest online visibility cloud.

Brief introduction by Allan Gardyne,
CEO of AssociatePrograms.com.
I don't claim to be an expert, but I know enough about traffic generation to regard getting a million visits a year as an achievable target. I've done it, doubled it, and more - with FREE traffic. If you haven't reached a million visits a year, you should find this report useful. When it comes to traffic generating, many affiliates and other website owners tend to get stuck in a comfortable rut. We often use a small number of favorite techniques and rarely venture beyond them.
I'm hoping this report will encourage you to look beyond the techniques you're using and try a few new ones. By using a wider variety of techniques, you'll attract new visitors from new places. The wider you cast your traffic net, the more you future -proof your business. You probably won't use EVERY method listed here. Choose the ones which best suit your site, your skills, your interests and your temperament. All the techniques I describe here involve work - but that's a GOOD thing. Many of your competitors will be too lazy to do the work involved, so when you do it, your traffic will leap ahead of theirs. To do one or two of the things I describe, you may have to go to eLance or Rentacoder and hire a programmer. However, the vast majority of the techniques are free and relatively simple. Most of them require time, not money.
About 95% of this report describes strong, solid fundamentals - techniques which build a solid, long-term business. About 5% deals with gimmicks. Don't ignore the gimmicks. Sometimes they can work brilliantly. I like to think of search engines as my unpaid slaves, working for me 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Back in 2003 when I was seriously ill and running my business from hospital, my websites carried on like magic, receiving thousands of visitors every day. I LOVE free search engine traffic. How to get traffic to your site is a HUGE topic. Whole books have been written on just small aspects of it. This report is an introduction to the topic.
For many of the techniques here, I'm just reminding you that they exist. Please don't just nod your head and think, "I know that." Take action. Try some of the techniques you're not using. Other websites use these techniques successfully so why don't you? At the end of the report, there's a brief list of carefully chosen traffic generating resources I recommend. This report is aimed at affiliates, but you don't have to be an affiliate to find these traffic-generating tips useful.

How to Increase Traffic When Your Promotion Budget is Tiny
Writing articles for your site and for the use of others, is a simple proven way low cost way to get more traffic. Articles can be used for all subjects and just like newspapers and magazines, is a recognised way of sharing information. Articles a low cost way of promotion but they do take time which can pay you back year after year for your efforts.
Most people tend to think that they can't write well. It's nothing more than sharing helpful information that you have learned. For example the idea of this article is to help format you thoughts and then the best way to format it best for users. So lets get started.
1. Firstly you need to choose who is your target market. Who is your article for and why would they find it helpful?
Example: "Home business websites who are looking for low cost traffic"
2. Choose the purpose of you article. Why are you writing it? How will you use it? This will help guide the content of it. Example: "Provide an article for distribution, which other webmasters/ezine owners can use creating links back to my site, and subscribers to my ezine". Always keep the purpose of the article in mind, which will help you keep on track with your content.
3. Article Subject -What are you going to write about? What subject? Use other articles you have seen or experiences you have had for ideas. Example: Using articles for low cost online promotion. From the subject you have chosen you need to create a headline of sorts- some thing that makes people want to read it. Create curiosity and use emotion. Example: How to turn words into free traffic for your site
4. Format Outline -This is when you decide the format of your article, just like you were taught at school.
a. Introduction - An outline of what you are going to discuss and why.
b. Main body - Points you are going to cover including any references to helpful sites or site involved in what you have learnt.
c. Conclusion - What resulted and how it worked or it didn't. What could you do differently next time.
d. Resource box - Normally a link to your site, information about your site, about you. Here is good article on resource boxes:
http://digitalawol.com/box
5. Checking - At this stage you should have the outline of an article. You need to get someone else to read it over, spell checking it, making sure the information flows well. I also recommend leaving it overnight before using it. It gives you a chance to re think it.
6. Online formatting - If you intend to make your article available to ezine owners, then you need to make sure it is formatted correctly and easy for them to use. The standard accepted format is 65 Characters wide- in plain text.
Most people us Microsoft word for word processing so you will need to re-format by using a program such as Note Tab light http://www.notetab.com/ (no cost) which will format your article correctly. One thing you will also need to do is ensure you only have paragraphs of 4-5 lines otherwise it creates a "mental block" for the reader, and becomes too hard to read online.
So now you have a formatted, helpful article ready for your use. The last thing you need to keep in mind is that you need to provide helpful, well-researched information. A full-page ad for your site will not do you any good and will get deleted quickly. Try to write from your own experiences and it will come across as real and very readable.
My next article will cover getting the information out there and working for you.

What Is Red Spam?
I have come across many statements made in the comments of certain articles which they claimed as red spam. So I tried to search what does it mean in the entire websites but I cannot find a clue. Everybody knows what SPAM is, but have you heard about red spam? Then I found one site, which is actually an email from someone to someone in Australia. The subject is Definitions of SPAM.
Here is the content....
White Spam (common definition) messages that look like created by computer programs. The receiver has the feeling he is not dealing with a human. Cold communication, but communication.
Pink Spam (common definition) spam that uses a human output. Spam that gives the receiver a feeling a real human is communicating something personally. In the end the writer (=sender) always wants something=money).
Red Spam (common definition) messages that plead for a cause, mostly send out by activists.
Brown Spam (common definition) Simple messages that target in most cases human shortcommings, how to loose weight, viagra, penis or breast enlargement, etc.
Black Spam (common definition) Spam that doesn't communicate, a good example is chinese messages send to people from countries that use different characters.
It made me laugh after I read it, I have no idea that there are so many colors in spam. What I really want to know is..Are these spams illegal? Can it be practiced in internet?
Comments? Anyone?

My Blog - 1st Ranking In Google?
I can’t believe it! I just checked Google today, and it’s really shocking! Just yesterday, my blog was located at page 12 at Google under the search ‘pro adsense’, but today it is at number 1, out of 1,8xx,xxx. It used to be problogger and other pro-seo or proadsense websites at the first 10 pages.
But now finally it’s me! I made it to the top at Google…..Wow!
Unfortunately, my blog is no where to be seen under the search ‘Adsense’ in Google, it’s really tough to achieve the top 10 pages under that particular search. There are about 39,xxx,xxx results came up……
Any word related to adsense is tough, because almost everybody is writing about Adsense in their sites i.e adsense work, make money from adsense, adsense pro, adsense sucks and even pro adsense.
But I don’t give up and never will. I will chase my dream until one of my blogs be at the 1st page either in Google or Yahoo under the search ‘Adsense’. Off course to be number 1, I don’t dream at all….. just to be able to get among the highest ranking position in search engines is already a big achievement for me….without paying a cent!
To all beginner bloggers, don’t give up to make your blogs visible to the world….Oh yes, I just started blogging from 21st Jan 2007. So it’s really a fast achievement for me.
I have followed all advise from top bloggers and they didn’t fail me. Go search in Google for 'pro adsense' now, see it for real.
Remember, always ping your site with Technorati.

My Blog - No 1 Ranking in MSN
For the last 3 days, my blog is at the top ranking for the search ‘Pro Adsense’ from MSN. Well, out of 4xx,xxx sites, so it’s really no bad at all. Check it out! MSN Live Search. For other search engines like Yahoo and Google, one of my blogs listed on page 2.
So it is really proven that, without paying a cent, my blogs still can be at the first 10 pages in all three main search engines. I have at least 10 blogs now, and I still keep on posting everyday.
The secret is……..posting and posting and posting with good quality contents for your blogs. It’s a fact, no longer just a theory. I made it with zero money.
How to increase the traffic? That is another theory….
